Please Don’t Do This, I’m Too Young- Mia Anderson

And so, he stands on the ledge.
Quivering and shaking
Completely terrified
And not knowing what to do
About the crowd he has assembled
The attention he has gathered
Just by holding onto a rail
And only that.
It was happening so fast,
Too fast for these young souls
These brave, untouched, unscathed beings
These two unknown kids
Who could have been
Two nationwide witnesses.
His sweat pruned his fingertips
As they tried to familiarise themselves
With the cold, bare railing so that
They could get a better grip…
But too late an arrival, too soon a glint.
The boys screamed, yelled! Not knowing what to do
Slowly, their words dehydrated logic
And reason had become homeless.
Their words shot out their mouths,
As their hearts did their chest.
Rambling, fumbling for reasons to stay
But it soon went from their shepherding words
To they the sheep, too weak to birth.

I DON’T WANT TO SEE THIS
I DON’T WANT THIS TO HAPPEN
PLEASE DON’T
OH MY GOD
I CAN’T HANDLE THIS
I CAN’T DO THIS
I CANT
I CANT
I CANT.
Their hearts in their mouths,
Pounded out all saliva
Salvation took over,
Flooded their flesh.
Panic combined
Soon, everyone’s sweat.
He began losing vision,
Yet a future glared his eyes.
But he remembered,
He remembered,
He remembered why.
Why he was standing there in the first place
Why nobody ever cared
Why does it bother others
What happens to him
‘What is going on mom?’
One child asked her mother
But with legs like jelly,
She yelled for her to
Get back in the car.

The boys were losing hope,
Losing vision, losing grip.
Of a life ever the same
Of a time without blame.
Nobody wanted this,
Nobody I tell you.
Believe it or not,
They were just two of the tens
Of people who stared.
Time was running out,
They’ve left it too long
The clock is running out
He’s surely as good as gone
But the number 7 was there.
7 never did wrong.
7 seconds to say
7 words that changed
As they rolled of a dry tongue

Please don’t do this, I’m too young.
